The world helps the Philippines recover after Typhoon Haiyan

DECEMBER 8, 2013 – A month after the category-5 typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines, international aid continue to help the nation recover from the billions worth of loss and devastation.  According to the Philippine government’s Foreign Aid Transparency Hub (FAiTH), a total of $484 million has been pledged by countries and intergovernmental organizations. Several countries have also sent military assets, search and rescue  personnel, and medical teams to assist in relief operations particularly in the provinces of Leyte, Samar, Bohol and Cebu where greater help is needed.

Filipinos are truly grateful

Several images and posts of Filipinos showing gratitude for international aid have circulated in social media. The international media’s coverage of the disaster has also been praised for its role in appealing for help in typhoon-ravaged ares.
