Facebook’s new donate button lets users more than just ‘like’ a cause

Facebook has introduced Donate, a new feature that makes it simple for users to quickly donate to charities. (Facebook / December 16, 2013)

Donating to charities on Facebook will now be as easy as “liking” their posts and pages.

The 1-billion member social network on Monday introduced Donate, a new feature that will appear on charities’ pages and besides their posts, giving users a quick way to donate.

The feature currently only works with a few select charities, including the Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and Water.org. But more charities can sign up to have the Donate feature added to their Facebook pages by filling out an application on the company’s website.

The feature appears as a “Donate Now” button when users see posts from participating charities on their News Feed. It can also be seen at the top of participating charities’ Facebook pages. The social network suggests users…
