I think it’s funny how we often foolishly think that actions and events on a deployment will kick off right when we touch down. When we get to the destination we seem to be expecting to jump on a helicopter and fly off into the distance while listening to Flight of the Valkyrie’s, or maybe something less cliché. This is most often not the way things start. While we are seemingly ready to start hooking and jabbing (metaphorically at least), we usually have to wait, often for hours or days while travel is arranged and the most recent intelligence is gathered. This was one of those times. If you were expecting a story where we started making a difference in the world one delivered baby, or gangrenous toe, at a time, you are in the wrong mindset, and will be disappointed. Take a break from this story and come back…
