Uploaded on Jan 4, 2014At the Leyte Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross in Tacloban, the volunteers of the Social Services Team, under the supervision of Ms Beverly Ann Kalingag, have been providing Psychosocial Support to the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan. As the Red Cross continues to respond to the massive relief and recovery needs in the Philippines, the Social Services team have also integrated an essential component to their response by providing violence prevention information to the most vulnerables. The objective is to mitigate the risks of violence and ensure safe and equal access for women and girls as well as men and boys to humanitarian assistance. Here are the testimonies of Franz Oleg Villarente and Janine Francis Louise Alcober on why they volunteer with the Red Cross and why they think it’s important to address violence prevention after a natural disaster
